4) One book that made you laugh: Genesis 34, when the Son's of Jacob tricked Hamor and his son Shechem by promising them they could marry the women in thier family if they get circumcised, so they did, then the Sons of Jacob came in "while they were still in pain" and killed them all.
5) One book that made you cry: Lectures to My Students by C.H. Spurgeon--the first few chapters.

Dave,
Some good calls out there. Gen. 34 is a good call for a good laugh. The Horton Davies series does seem like a sweet work, especially with your future aspirations in mind.

Tim,
Yeah, Davies series has been a good read, though quite long, but I enjoy seeing how the churches in England have evolved over history. If you ever get a chance to read it or even skim through it, it is interesting.

I totally agree about Gen 34. Not only do I love the irony and humor, but I love the ingenuity. Now THAT'S revenge. I also amen #6 and 7!

Hadn't thought about Gen. 34 for the questions, but that one has made me laugh many times. It was definitely manipulating the system to accomplish their own purposes. Funny thing is that God never condemns it, Jacob was just ticked bc his popularity ratings among the pagans went down.
